  the following information on jehovah's answering of prayer came to mind when replying to another thread moments ago.. doubtless, our viewpoint on this and other scriptural matters has taken on a new direction -- if any at all.

  having worked on this bible dictionary while at bethel, i retain a fondness for it.

  Dear possum and OneGenTwoGroups:

  I'm so sorry for what you and yours -- children -- have suffered and that this information has triggered bad memories. It's a wake up call for me, thinking as I did, at one time, that the above information would be a comfort to all who listen and heed it. Well, it is not a comfort. As a JW, I felt that my expounding WT wisdom was a healing to those in spiritual distress, like one size fits all. So naive. So very wrong.

  Again, my most sincere and humblest apologies. Sometimes I feel I should apologize to all those I preached to and studied with. Now that I am painfully aware of dissent and disaffection, I wonder how many mute souls in the KH were really seething with anger when I dispensed Jehovah's "loving counsel" from the faithful and discreet slave.

  Doubtless, our viewpoint on this and other scriptural matters has taken on a new direction -- if any at all. Having worked on this Bible dictionary while at Bethel, I retain a fondness for it. Nevertheless, there is what we now KNOW and what we once BELIEVED.

  My Mom Is Dying

  i just wanted to say that my dear 89 year old mom is terminally ill and will soon pass.

  she is on morphine and hanging on.

  she has been a devout witness for about 60 years and a wonderful mother.

  WT Failure To Engage In Charitable Works

  i never was a jw.. wtbts and its hydra-headed organisations world wide has charitable status.

  yet, as far as i can see, it carries out little or no real charitable works.. last weekend my son and his friends did a 420 km cycle ride and mountain walk in aid of a local hospice at home charity.

  they've raised (so far) 5,000. this charity makes a real difference.. this a video of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ijr7ipvrek&feature=youtu.be.

  Perry: Your explanation is an example of how many Christians believe. As a Jehovah's Witness, I would never have had that concept of Jesus and what he offers. Thank you for helping me to see things from a different perspective.

  i was listening to someone give a speech something 'bout the knowledge of enlightenment he reached and as my eyes glazed over in my seat he approached and he asked if he could challenge my beliefs i said by all means have at it then he talked about the suffering and source of bad habits how the emptying of mind is the challenge and withdrawing from the world is the cure to all sadness i said that all sounds like madness why have a life and then not be alive why have a mind and then choose to be blind what you call wisdom is the fear that you hide you cannot retreat from those demons inside this is not peace, it's a mask you adorn this is not truth, it's a trap, nothing more and you're too busy running from something you can't ignore

  in a weak moment, i called my parents and my mom answered.

  i start crying as i tell her about my disease, and this woman says to me:.

  I'm so sorry, babygirl, for what you're having to endure.

  Those of us who are ill but have become inactive face similar. The heartless mantra, "If he dies before Armageddon, Jehovah may remember him in the resurrection," is a cop out for help and sympathy we need NOW!

  Our alleged falling from favor with Jehovah (how do they know that?) disqualifies us from the basic help JWs could render. It ends up that we get care from "worldly" people.

  I love those caring, helpful, sympathetic, hands-on "worldly" people!

  Thank you, Village Idiot, for both the editing advice and the comment about who REALLY is a Christian. You're rather smart for one so named . . .

  As a copy/content editor, I wonder sometimes if hardcopy is, in the main, easier. Fortunately, however, my three computers, in tandem, allow relatively trouble-free work when I'm on a job. Well, so far, after a lot of initial hair-pulling-invective-shouting persuasion vis-a-vis these infernal boxes. Maybe, then, it's only this forum that's quirky!
